The renovation of the gazebo area in Knightsville was completed in a bipartisan way when Itri Park was launched 2 summers ago. At that time it was noted that this was but Phase 1 of revitalization planned for the area.

On Monday, March 25th, Phase 2 will begin with a press conference at noon in Itri Park led by Mayor Ken Hopkins and Acting DPW Director Justin Mateus.

Hopkins said, “When complete, the area will come alive as a must-see destination with an economic corridor to be enjoyed by residents and visitors to our restaurants and Businesses.”

Senator Whitehouse recently released a list of local projects statewide that will receive partial federal funding. $1,950,000 was listed for “Knightsville Revitalization – Streetscape Improvements”. When asked for details, Whitehouse’s office said, “Funds will be used for the next phase of neighborhood revitalization improvements in Knightsville, including the installation of ADA-compliant walkways, new streetlights, benches, trash receptacles, bike storage, and trees. The improvements will increase walkability, pedestrian safety, climate resiliency, and will help support economic development in the neighborhood.”
