Paul Pierce expects the Los Angeles Clippers to fail once again in 2024, and he laid the case for why that is the case this week.

Following a stretch that saw L.A. lose six of their last nine games, head coach Ty Lue came out and called them soft.

“So identity for us, it’s got to be toughness,” Lue said. “Which means physicality, mental and physical toughness, a high-powered offense—we can score in a lot of different ways—and we got to have a defensive mindset. And so right now, do we have an identity? I think, yeah, we’re soft.”

Pierce picked up on those comments during a recent appearance on Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’ and ran with them.

“I see a team that’s probably going to be a first round exit,” Pierce said of the Clippers this week.

“I mean, we’re at the end of the year, and I’m hearing words like no identity, we’re soft, we don’t hustle.

“Like, come on, this is not what you want to hear with 10 games left in the season. I mean, they’re just collapsing. They’re falling apart at the wrong time. This is not the time you want. This is when you want to come together, really know who you are. And I just have no faith in the Clippers at this point.”

Pierce has been pretty hard on the Clippers over the past few weeks.

First he called out Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Then he explained why the team was much worse ever since Russell Westbrook got hurt.

Now this.

Will the Clippers be able to get it together and actually prove Pierce wrong? Time will tell.
