The wobbling Indiana Pacers can’t afford more slip-ups in the race to avoid the play-in, and the latest NBA odds have them as big favorites against the Detroit Pistons tonight.

The Pacers remain a high-ceiling threat but they need to steady the ship, having stumbled to a 5-5 record in their past 10 games, including a 108-103 loss to the Cavaliers on Monday.

That makes this trip to Detroit timely. The Pistons have lost three in a row — falling to 12-56 — and were blown out by the Celtics earlier this week despite 21 points from Jaden Ivey.

Amid the barrage of losses, there are some big questions about this Detroit Pistons core, but they can cling to a few silver linings from a miserable season — and Jalen Duren is one of them.

Duren continues to catch the eye as an elite rebounder and I’m looking in his direction for my best bet tonight as the key presence in the paint for a short-handed Detroit team.

Though Duren’s numbers have bounced around a little this month, he had 23 boards against the Raptors last week and followed that up with 17 rebounds against the Heat.

There should be no shortage of opportunities for a repeat performance here. The Indiana Pacers bring an up-tempo style that translates to 92.4 field goal attempts per game — second in the NBA this season — and Duren had 13 rebounds in the teams’ last meeting.

Plus, with Isaiah Stewart ruled out and both Taj Gibson and Simone Fontecchio listed as questionable, he should grab an even bigger share of the boards tonight.

My best bet: Jalen Duren Over 12.5 rebounds (-115 at PROLINE+)

There’s urgency for the Pacers with just 12 games to go in the regular season — and a win against the lowly Pistons is a must for the visitors as they chase the No. 6 spot in the East.

Indiana is 36-30-3 ATS this season and has won the past three meetings between these teams, covering the spread in each of them, including a comfortable 129-115 victory last month.

Though the Pacers are only a .500 team away from home, it’s tough to see Detroit keeping up here. The Pistons shot just 43% from the field against the Celtics on Monday and are making the second-fewest 3-pointers per game (11.3) in the NBA.

I’m also taking the Under. The visitors are still pouring in points with the exception of their loss to the Cavs this week, but a total of 232.5 feels a little high given Detroit’s erratic offense.

It’s not as if the Pacers are firing on all cylinders either. Pascal Siakam has been held to 19 ppg in March while Tyrese Haliburton hasn’t had a 25-point Game this month — plus, Indiana is missing Bennedict Mathurin’s explosive scoring off the bench.

The Pacers arrive as clear favorites in this spot, with the line inching up after opening at -8.5 at some sportsbooks. As I’ve mentioned above, a 9.5-point line still seems like good value.

Though the Pistons have shown signs of life with three wins from their last seven games, they’ve lost by a double-digit margin in two of their past three outings.

With the Pacers’ 122.8 ppg ranking first in the league, the total tends to be jacked up whenever Haliburton & Co. are in action — and that’s the case tonight, with the Over/Under line set north of 230 once again.

The Under is 8-2 in Indiana’s past 10 contests and 7-3 for Detroit over that same span.
