The Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees meet Tuesday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a New York Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Cincinnati played a four-Game series versus the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. The Reds lost 1-0 Friday but otherwise won 11-4 and 9-4 in the first three Games. In the Sunday finale Cincinnati took another loss 2-0. Hunter Greene posted 4.2 innings with one earned run in the starter slot.

For the starter role on Tuesday the Reds will send out Graham Ashcraft. So far over 13 starts Ashcraft is 4-4 with a 5.45 ERA. Over his career in 58 starts, Ashcraft is 16-19 with a 4.95 ERA.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they took on the rival Toronto Blue Jays in their weekend set. New York struggled in that one, losing 9-2 and 9-3 around a 16-5 blowout win over the first three outings. On Sunday the Yankees evened it up with an 8-1 win. Gerrit Cole had a good start with 5.0 innings and one earned run.

As starting pitcher for Tuesday the Yankees will send out Luis Gil. This year Gil is 9-3 with a 3.15 ERA in 16 starts. Gil has a 10-4 career record with a 3.33 ERA in 23 starts total.

New York Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Reds in this one. Probably not touching it, though; both starters could use a good showing. Over his last three starts, Ashcraft is 0-1 with 13.2 innings, 13 earned runs, 20 hits and three walks. As for Gil, he’s 0-2 over his last pair with 12 earned runs in 5.2 innings on 12 hits and six walks.

The Reds really need to get their bats going as well. Cincinnati scored exactly zero runs in two of their three weekend Games. The good news is that New York has given up up five or more runs in five of their last six Games. I’m probably staying away from this one, but the Reds may have a decent shot.
