The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees meet Saturday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a NY Yankees vs Boston Red Sox Prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Boston did very well this week against the Miami Marlins. The Red Sox took a sweep in that series, bagging wins 8-3, 7-2 and 6-5. On Friday in the opener Game versus the Yankees, the Red Sox scored four runs across the final two frames in a 10-inning win 5-3. Starter Tanner Houck lasted just 3.1 innings with one earned on four walks and two hits.

In the starter slot for the Red Sox Saturday it’ll be Josh Winckowski. This year Winckowski is 2-1 with a 2.80 ERA in 14 Games (four starts). Winckowski is 11-12 with a 3.98 ERA in 89 career Games (19 starts).

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they had a pretty embarrassing series at home versus the Cincinnati Reds this week. New York was swept in that one 5-4, 3-2 and 8-4. On Friday against the Sox, the Yankees blew a 3-0 lead and couldn’t score after the fourth. Nestor Cortes went 6.0 innings with one earned in the start.

Gerrit Cole will take the mound for the Yankees on Saturday. So far Cole is 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA in three starts. Cole has a 146-76 career record with a 3.19 ERA in 303 starts total.

NY Yankees vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’ll stay with the Red Sox. Winckowski is doing well over his last couple of outings, posting 11.0 combined innings with two earned runs on 10 hits and two walks. Winckowski is 1-0 in that pair. As for Cole, he had six earned in 4.0 innings versus the Mets on June 25 but did better in his last start (5.0 innings; one earned in a win).

On Friday the Sox gave New York another embarrassing loss, surging to a nice win with a late push. All the Boston RBI came on homers (from Romy Gonzalez, Masataka Yoshida and Ceddanne Rafaela). It’d be nice to see a little more offensive variety Saturday, but the Sox should be in good shape no matter what.
