Liam Payne has tragically died at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel and his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan has payed tribute

Niall Horan broke his silence on Liam Payne’s tragic death.

The two were part of one of the biggest boy bands in the world, One Direction. Liam and Niall would perform alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. The band was founded in 2010 by Simon Cowell on the popular reality television program X-Factor. When Zayn left the band in 2015, the entire group took a “hiatus.” They then broke up in 2016 with all of them going solo.

Niall broke his silence with a post, saying: “I’m absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam. It just doesn’t feel real. Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure.”

It continued: “All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever.

“The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in a lifetime. I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn’t know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking. My love and condolences go out to Geoff, Karen, Ruth, Nicola and of course his son Bear. That you for everything, Payno. Love you brother. Nialler,” he concluded.

Before Liam’s death, the singer attended one of Niall’s shows in the Argentine capital. In a video posted on his Instagram Stories prior to his arrival, Liam stated that he and Niall had “to square up” some issues.

Liam said: “Were going to Argentina. One, because we want to. Two, because we want to. And three, because Niall Horans playing down there and I think we might just go and say hello.” He added: “Its been a while since me and Niall have spoken. Weve got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that but we just need to talk.”

Right before it was announced that Liam died, he posted many pictures and videos on Snapchat. The very last snapchat photo was of a shirtless Liam, next to a girl in a black bikini during their visit in Argentina. He was active on the app, giving fans a glimpse into his life. He also posted a video of himself and the blonde woman having breakfast, “enjoying coffee” at around 1 p.m., he said.
