Best early bet for NFL Week 9: Minnesota Vikings +2 vs Denver Broncos (-110)

Even after two weeks of him leading the Minnesota Vikings to massive victories as an underdog, I still don’t think the market knows how to price Josh Dobbs and this Vikings team. The addition of Dobbs following Kirk Cousins’ season-ending injury ignited a spark in what was already a team on the rise following 3 consecutive victories. Minnesota has now won 5 straight, putting the Vikings in the NFC playoffs if the season were to end today. This is a team that got hit with a ton of turnover regression early on in the season, a stark contrast from a season ago. However, the pendulum has swung back in Minnesota’s favor, as the Vikings might get Justin Jefferson back next week to join an offense that has been humming for over a month now.

On the other side, the Broncos have been playing significantly better football of late, even as Russell Wilson continues to be inconsistent under center. However, I can’t get there with Denver as a favorite in this matchup, even at home. The market was low on Minnesota this past week against the Saints and it was clear that the Vikings were the better team from the opening kickoff. While I expect a close and competitive game in Denver, I’m comfortable taking the points Minnesota as an underdog in a contest that could easily come down to the final possession.
