Neil Lennon Likens Celtic’s Win Over Leipzig to Martin O’Neill Era
Former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon enjoyed what he saw at Celtic Park this evening against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Lennon, who managed Celtic to some of their greatest European nights and played under Martin O’Neill in even more great European performances, was full of praise for a special night at Paradise.
Lennon said: (TNT Sports), “This was one of the best home performances from a Celtic side since Martin O’Neill’s days.
“A joy to watch.”
The Irishman is spot on in his assessment that Celtic were sensational.
Despite going a goal down, it was clear that they would fight back.
The Hoops looked as close to their best as any Hoops supporter could imagine against currently the second-best team in Germany.
Past Celtic sides would have collapsed after dominating for 20 minutes and going a goal down from a corner, but Brendan Rodgers has this Celtic side as resilient as possible, with the character on the ball to break down Leipzig.
Celtic look in a great position for European Football after Christmas, but Rodgers, the players, and the Hoops supporters will not get ahead of themselves.
However, after four Games, Celtic are in an position that not many would have predicted, but instead hoped.
