Natibu’s story began on a fateful day in March 2023 when a distress call echoed from the village of Maungu, nestled within the Tsavo ecosystem.

A heart-wrenching sight greeted the community at dawn: a young elephant trapped in an uncovered water pipe. Despite the despair, hope emerged as locals reached out for assistance.

As the sun glowed, Natibu’s plight touched hearts far and wide. A team of compassionate individuals embarked on a daring rescue mission, determined to save the vulnerable calf.

Against all odds, Natibu emerged from darkness, embodying an unbreakable spirit amidst uncertainty. Cut off from his wild kin, he found solace among his newfound companions.

Under the care of dedicated caregivers at the Kaluku Neonate Nursery, Natibu began his healing journey, forging deep bonds of friendship, particularly with Mayan.
