The St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins meet Monday in MLB action from LoanDepot Park. Here’s a Miami Marlins vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals took on the rival Chicago Cubs over the weekend. St. Louis won Friday’s matchup 3-0 but fell 5-1 in Game two. In the Sunday rubber match the Cardinals eked out a 2-1 win to take the set. Miles Mikolas posted 6.1 innings in the start with one earned on four hits.

For the Monday opener with the Marlins, the Cardinals will send out Sonny Gray. This year Gray is 8-4 with a 3.01 ERA and 91 Ks in 68.2 innings over 12 starts. Gray is 106-89 with a 3.45 career ERA in 291 Games (282 starts).

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they played the Washington Nationals over the weekend. Miami lost the first two installments of that set 8-1 and 4-0. In the finale Sunday, the Marlins fell 3-1 to complete the sweep.

As starter for the Monday Game, the Marlins are sending out Braxton Garrett. This year Garrett is 2-2 with a 6.10 ERA and 28 Ks in 31.0 innings over six starts. Garrett has a career record of 16-19 with a 4.07 ERA in 64 Games (62 starts). The Marlins will meet the Phillies after this series.

Miami Marlins vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll stick with the Cardinals. Gray needs to keep it going on the mound, though. He kicked off June with a couple of spotty outings, totaling an 0-2 record with seven earned on seven hits and seven walks in 9.2 innings. In his most recent start though, Gray managed a win over the Pirates with one earned in 7.0 frames.

On Sunday the Cards had nine team hits but could only score during one inning. Thanks to the excellent pitching job across the board however, that was enough. Pedro Pages had both RBI (homer) and Brandon Crawford (two walks; hit) scored the other run. It would be nice to see a little more fireworks at the plate in Monday’s game.

Andrew's Free Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -156
