On Monday, the attorneys representing the Miami-Dade Police Department officer demanded their client’s “immediate reinstatement” after being reassigned to “administrative duties” following the arrest of NFL star Tyreek Hill.

The detention of Hill, who was not initially recognised by the on duty officers, has caused a media and fan storm ever since the news broke. His car was stopped after the NFL star was allegedly speeding prior to Miami’s win over Jacksonville on Sunday.

Ignacio Alvarez of ALGO Law Firm and Israel Reyes of the Reyes Law Firm, who are defending the aforementioned officer, issued a statement to Fox News Digital shortly before body cam footage related to the Hill incident was released.

Why was Tyreek Hill arrested?

Said footage showed the 30-year-old wideout being placed in cuffs for being “not immediately cooperative,” according to the South Florida Police Benevolent Association.

Lawyers said that “while we believe the decision to place our client on leave was premature, we respect Director Daniels’ call for a thorough review of the incident involving Mr. Tyreek Hill, a stance we fully support. We urge all parties to refrain from making public statements that may misrepresent our client’s actions and mislead the public about Mr. Hill’s detainment.

“We call for our client’s immediate reinstatement, and a complete, thorough, and objective investigation, as Director Daniels has also advocated. Our client will not comment until this investigation is concluded and the facts are fully revealed.”

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported on Monday that Tyreek Hill received two citations as a result of his traffic stop: careless driving and a seatbelt violation.

Hill himself opened up on the incident, saying “I do want to be able to use this platform to say what if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Worse case scenario? It’s crazy,” Hill said. “I want to be a cop someday. I got a state trooper hat, all that. So I’ve got a lot of respect for cops, man, but, obviously everybody has a bad apples in their situation. I want to be able to use this platform, you know to figure to.. to figure out a way to flip this and make it a positive.

“On both ends. On my end and also Miami-Dade so that way we can team together and you know, do something positive for the community. ‘Cause that’s what it’s all about. You guys are here to protect us as individuals and you know I have a platform and I want to be able to team up with you guys. That’s all I got to say.”
