Melissa Rivers sounds off on the best and worst Oscars 2024 looks

The Oscars represent the grand finale of awards season — and who better to break down the night’s standout red carPet styles than Melissa Rivers?

“I think it was very pretty. Quite safe. But no major ‘wows’ and no major ‘ughs,'” the “Fashion Police” alum and daughter of late icon Joan Rivers tells Page Six Style of her overall thoughts on the evening’s outfits, adding that she was most impressed by the dazzling jewelry on display.

“What I loved is that it was the night of necklaces,” Rivers says, noting that she spied at least a dozen noteworthy versions. “All year, this has been the whole trend: major jewels. So I thought everybody was going to start to pivot. [But] those necklaces last night? Amazing.”

“Emily Blunt was our biggest ‘wow’ moment in Schiaparelli, and she just looked gorgeous. But I don’t think people understood [it]. I’m hearing a lot of, ‘It didn’t fit.’ No — it did. That’s what Schiaparelli does. It’s very structured and architectural. It was very fashion, [and] it was very Schiaparelli.

“My mother always said, ‘You either dress for the carPet or you dress for the stage. And unless you’re winning, you dress for the carPet.'”
