Lamz.Anxiously Awaiting Rescue: The Heartfelt Gesture of a Dog Tied to a Post, Reaching out to the Approaching Police Officer

Officer Angela Laurella was summoned to a dead-end street in Pompano, Florida, where it was reported that two dogs were tied to posts.

No one knew who had brought the dogs or how long they had been there because the neighborhood lacked cameras. However, since the outside temperature was above 100 degrees, Officer Laurella realized that there was no time to waste.

She ran there and saw a weak, gray dog clinging to a post, barely able to move.

Amy Roman, president and founder of 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, told The Dodo: “He was tied to a post with a very short leash.” “He was emaciated, dehydrated, and all his bones and ribs were sticking out.”

To receive Pets, the dog, now named Liam, placed his paw in the officer’s hand and tilted his head. “She simply walked slowly towards him and extended her hand, and he cowered in fear and gave her his paw, as if to say, ‘Please help me get out of here’,” Roman explained.

Officer Laurella saw that Liam had not had an easy life and needed special care, so she sought help from 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida. Despite the overwhelmed rescue, Roman gladly accepted Liam.

Liam is currently recovering at Roman’s home after multiple vet appointments, where the 17-pound pocket bulldog is constantly gaining strength and eating better than before.

“He is always receiving a lot of affection,” Roman added. “He is fed every hour on the dot, so his body gets used to it… He’s having a fantastic time right now because we have volunteers preparing batches of lean chicken and rice.”

Although Liam still has a long way to go, including vet appointments, he has been a ray of sunshine since his illness.

“He loves everyone, and this dog has not one ounce of evil in his body,” Roman said. “That tells me everything because after everything he’s been through, he’s still very grateful and forgiving.”

Liam is one of many Animals in Florida who have recently been adopted or surrendered by their owners.

With so many shelters full, Roman hopes that Pet owners will seek help and resources from shelters and rescues before deciding that they can no longer care for their Pets. And Liam exemplifies how every dog deserves a second chance.

Despite everything, Liam continues to approach people, showing that he is ready for a life with a loving family.

“I think dogs like Liam can teach humanity a couple of things,” Roman commented. “It just restores your faith.”
