Manushi: A miracle of resilience and hope with a strong will to live

 

The incredible journey of Manushi, born prematurely in Udaipur, Rajasthan, is a testament to the strength of the human spirit in overcoming adversity. Her entrance into the world, 12 weeks before her expected due date, presented daunting challenges due to her fragile condition. Weighing a mere 400 grams and facing severe underdevelopment of her vital organs, Manushi’s survival hung by a thread from the moment she was born via emergency cesarean section in June 2017.

 

Facing overwhelming odds, Manushi’s parents refused to surrender to despair. They entrusted her care to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Jivanta Children’s Hospital, where a dedicated team of doctors embarked on a relentless mission to save her life. Through meticulous medical intervention, including respiratory support, blood transfusions, and specialized nutrition, they fought tirelessly to nurture Manushi’s fragile body and protect her from infections.

 

Despite the grim prognosis, Manushi began to defy the odds. After seven weeks, she showed encouraging signs of improvement, gradually gaining strength to consume milk and facilitating the development of her organs. Over the course of 4.5 months, she made remarkable progress, transitioning from intravenous feeding to being able to ingest milk from a spoon. Today, her weight has increased to approximately 2.4 kg, a testament to the dedication and expertise of her medical caregivers.

 

Following a grueling seven-month stay in the NICU, Manushi was finally discharged, bringing immeasurable joy to her family. Her parents’ prayers were answered as they welcomed their daughter into the warmth of their home for the first time since her birth. Manushi’s resilience and tenacity serve as an inspiration to all, embodying the indomitable spirit of hope in the face of adversity.

 

As Manushi embarks on her journey through life, she carries with her the name of Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar, symbolizing aspirations for a bright and promising future. With love, support, and determination, we believe that Manushi will continue to defy expectations and reach for the stars as she grows and thrives.
