Man Utd dealt worrying injury blow ahead of FA Cup final
Erik ten Hag has confirmed Scott McTominay will likely not be available for Manchester United's upcoming clash with Crystal Palace after suffering an injury on Saturday.
The Scotland international came off the bench in the 65th minute of the draw with Burnley at Old Trafford, replacing Kobbie Mainoo in the heart of the Man Utd midfield. However, McTominay was unable to see out the rest of the Game for the Red Devils, hobbling off in injury time with a knock.
Speaking after the Game to the club's official website, manager Ten Hag admitted he is not expecting McTominay to be available for Man Utd's upcoming Premier League clash with Palace at Selhurst Park.
"We have to assess this, to set the diagnosis," said Ten Hag. "I don't know in this moment to return [against Crystal Palace next month], I think it's a little bit too quick turnaround.
"You have seen he has a problem. We have to diagnose this and see what it is."
McTominay is the latest to join a rather long list of injured players at Man Utd. Heading into the weekend Game against Palace, Ten Hag was unable to call upon the services of a whopping nine players during to various ailments, with star men Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw among the walking wounded.
Although Man Utd don't have too much left to play for in the Premier League - sitting in sixth place heading into the final few gameweeks - they do have a huge FA Cup final clash with Manchester City to look forward to in May.
While not clear yet whether or not McTominay will be fit to suit up for the final at Wembley, Ten Hag will certainly be hoping the midfielder can play some part in the game.
The 27-year-old has been a useful asset for Ten Hag throughout the 2023/24 season, chipping in with ten goals in all comPetitions despite regularly being used as an impact substitute.
