“Madrid won’t let me talk about it” -Rodrygo on incident with Messi
Brazilian Rodrygo Goes scored the first goal in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Naples and was asked some questions after the Game, one of which had nothing to do with the Game. Instead, he was asked about an incident that occurred between him and Lionel Messi when Brazil played Argentina in a World Cup Qualifier. They shared a tense moment when Rodrygo grabbed the back of Messi’s neck and the two exchanged some nasty words.
When asked about hit, Rodrygo did not give any further details and simply said he can’t talk about it. When asked why not, he directed his response to a Real Madrid employee in the room and said, “Madrid won’t let me, right?”, which made everyone in the room laugh.
Rodrygo also made sure to “reassure everyone” that he’s okay after asking for a substitution in the 87th minute. “It was just a cramp. In the second half, it was a bit hard for me,” he said. “I had a little cramp but I’m fine now.”
