Leave children alone, don’t take away their innocence: Mishi Khan
After adding viral sensation Ahmad Shah and his pack of adorable brothers to the roster of children frequenting his Ramazan show, Waseem Badami recently extended an invitation to the immensely popular vlogger Shiraz, who is the face of the Shirazi village vlogs YouTube channel. Posting videos with the child and welcoming him to the show, snipPets from Shiraz's first appearance on the show circulated as Waseem passed on the mic to him to recite a naat.
While many adore these appearances by children on the show, there is some truth to the argument made about the consequences of exposing them to the limelight and possibly extensive working hours. Mishi Khan took to her Instagram to address the same.
"Why why why?" began Mishi in her caption alongside her video on Instagram. "Why did you have to book Shiraz for the Ramazan transmission and take away his organic sweet innocence? Before it was Ahmad Shah who sounds like an adult now only because of the bad city environment. Please leave the children alone and don’t take away their innocence for God’s sake," Mishi requested.
In the video, she lamented, "I am very saddened by the fact that a child, who became so famous on social media that his videos are watched with great interest in countries other than Pakistan, he received a silver button from YouTube, and he reached one million followers on Instagram - he's so cute, he says such organic, innocent, sweet things. I am saddened by the fact that he is now a part of a Ramazan transmission. Do you guys not find anyone else?"
She continued, "First, you ruined Ahmad Shah's innocence and turned him into a city adult. You steal their childhood. What was the need? He was already famous due to his own hard work. Like hawks, you have swooped in. The timings must be absurd. He's a kid. He needs sleep. He must be awake at Sehri time and Iftari time to take part in the transmission the entire month. At least spare someone. Let someone stay organic and innocent. You bring them to cities and start your absurdities. I'm truly saddened."
Mishi furthered, "I also want to ask his father - he is already so well known. What was the need to agree to this? You were so interested that he comes to the city, doesn't get any sleep, and gets involved in city talk, corroding his innocence? What type of people are you?" Angered, Mishi added, "Shame on all of you."

Her response to the addition of Shiraz to the Ramazan transmission highlights the need to question whether children should be exposed to the limelight at such a young age. It also sheds light on the need to ensure there are regulations in place that are implemented in a way where the well-being of the children involved is prioritised.
