The Los Angeles Lakers resigned LeBron James to a max contract extension this summer, but all parties involved understand that the end is nigh.

While L.A. is currently mired in drama over a potentially blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets, the reality is that this team only has about one or two seasons of LeBron left.

Then he is gone.

This week, the Lakers’ plan for LeBron’s retirement tour went public.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Lakers will give him a full retirement tour.

“LeBron signed an extension his summer where he only has one year guaranteed,” said McMenamin.

“But I wouldn’t start looking like the clock is starting to clock down on his career where he would walk away from the Lakers and retire because they struggled throughout the season.

He’s going to be in his own timeline and I think when it’s the final march for LeBron… we’re all gonna know and it’s gonna be must-see TV. It’s gonna be the LeBron tour coming to town throughout the 28 NBA cities culminating in a spectacular farewell.”

Will LeBron’s goodbye tour ultimately rise to the levels that Kobe Bryant’s rose to? Time will tell.
