Lakers’ Murky Plans For Bronny James Going Forward

Bronny James made his NBA debut this week in the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He and Anthony Edwards shared a particularly memorable welcome-to-the-league moment.

Once the Game wrapped, everyone began to wonder what L.A. was going to do with Bronny going forward.

According to the New York Post, Bronny’s future with the Lakers going forward this season can be best described as ‘murky.’

“The orchestrated decision to have the father and son duo appear on the court together in a regular-season game led to three minutes of game action together and bothered some in the media who labeled it ‘a complete sideshow and disrespectful to game.’”

Because the Lakers hope to contend in 2024-25, the NYP notes that Bronny will almost certainly not see playing time going forward.

“It is unlikely the second-round pick will be a part of the Lakers’ regular rotation going forward as the veteran team competes for a playoff spot in the Western Conference,” the report noted.

Earlier this week, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst gave his honest thoughts on Bronny’s place with the Lakers as the season chugs along.

“What the Lakers are doing here is trying to get the most out of LeBron,” Windhorst said.

“This is an investment, not just in History, it’s an investment in engaging and energizing your franchise player at age 39. And I think it’s working. LeBron is completely engaged and energized, and I think JJ Redick is making a smart move by totally leaning into this and totally embracing this.”

Will Bronny ultimately see any more meaningful action as the 2024-25 NBA season chugs along? Time will tell.
