The Utah Jazz have started to turn things around as they’ve split their last six games, but they will be looking for a better result in this one after coming up painfully short to the Kings in a 119-117 loss last night. Lauri Markkanen led the way with 25 points on six of eight shooting, Keyonte George added 19 points, Collin Sexton scored 18 points, while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Jazz shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 25 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to turn an early 12-point deficit into an 11-point lead, only to get run down in the fourth quarter as they scored just five points in the final 3:37 to allow the Kings to run them down in the end. As a team, the Clippers shot just 37 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle in this one after getting outscored by 66-46 in the first half. Norman Powell has been so consistent for the Clippers this season, but he scored just eight points on three of 11 shooting, Ivica Zubac scored just six points while Derrick Jones Jr finished with just two points on zero of seven shooting.

The Jazz are still missing a couple players including Jason Preston and Walker Kessler, while the Clippers are missing Kawhi Leonard once again. The Jazz are slowly starting to build some momentum and they were more than competitive in last night’s narrow loss to the Kings, but it’s going to be tough to replicate that effort on zero days’ rest. The Clippers haven’t been anywhere near their best lately, but they are certainly due for a win to get their season back on track. The line is a bit too high I think, so while I have the Clippers getting the much-needed win, I am going to side with the Jazz to keep this one within single digits.
