During his visit to FC Gifu, where he began his professional career, Kyogo shared his aspirations for the coming years. “My aim is to score more and more goals, be called up for Japan international again, and play in the next World Cup,” he stated, reflecting on his goals of returning to international prominence with Japan.

Despite not being a regular in the Japanese national team, often overshadowed by teaMMAtes Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate, Kyogo’s determination remains strong. His goals are set not just on personal achievements but also on making a significant impact at the 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted across North America.

Rumours of a return to Japanese Football have circulated but they have since been rubbished.

Kyogo signed a long-term contract with Celtic last season and is focused on recapturing the exceptional form he displayed under former manager Ange Postecoglou as he heads into his fourth season with the Scottish club.
