St. Louis Cardinals Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals come into this one looking to build on their 8-5 win over the Royals from Friday’s series opener. The win puts the Cards in a decent spot to build on their series win over the Rays to start the week.

Kansas City Royals Recap
The Kansas City Royals will try to rebound after letting one slip away in Friday’s series-opening loss. The loss put the Royals at risk of back-to-back series losses if they can’t pull out a result in either of the next two Games after falling short against the Red Sox in a three-Game set to start the week.
Royals Trying To Regain Home Form
Going into Friday’s opener, Bobby Witt Jr. leads the Royals with 162 hits including 22 home runs, 84 RBIs and team-highs of 10 triples and 33 doubles with 25 stolen bases and a .349 batting average. Salvador Perez also has 20 home runs with 75 RBIs and 20 doubles. Maikel Garcia has 6 home runs, 46 RBIs and 27 stolen bases along with 5 triples and 20 doubles this season. Vinnie Pasquantino has 25 doubles with 17 homers and 84 RBIs of his own on the year.
Why the Kansas City Royals will win
- The Cardinals have lost each of their last eight night games against AL Central opponents following a win.
- The Royals have won three of their last four games against NL Central opponents following a home loss.
- The Cardinals have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight games against American League opponents following a road win.
- The Royals have covered the run line in each of their last four games against the Cardinals following a loss.
Kansas City Royals vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
I’m on the Royals here. I know the Cardinals found a way to get the win on Friday, but that was more about the Royals bullpen letting it slip and I don’t think they will here. Wacha’s been a quietly reliable option for Kansas City’s rotation this season and Wacha’s had a fair amount of success the last couple of years against his former team. The Cardinals have dropped each of Pallante’s last four starts and Kansas City is still one of the best home teams in baseball overall and against right-handed pitching this season. Give me Kansas City here.
