Jurgen Klopp offers worrying injury update on Alisson & Diogo Jota

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed he expects to be without both goalkeeper Alisson and winger Diogo Jota for the foreseeable future.

The Reds, who meet Luton on Wednesday before their Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, have found themselves facing an injury crisis after Alisson, Jota and Curtis Jones headed into a treatment room which already included Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic and Joel Matip.

During his press conference on Tuesday, Klopp revealed the latest on Liverpool's fitness struggles and warned fans that the injury crisis will go on for a little while longer.

"Not great, I would like to say no issues but we have some," he began. "Not available: Ali, muscle injury, we don't know how long it will take but definitely not the foreseeable time coming back. Then we have Diogo with a knee issue is ruled out. Curtis, with a bone/liGament issue, is ruled out.

"With others, we will deal with it day by day. With muscle things, we will see for tomorrow. If you see the line-up early enough you can see who made it and who didn't make it. That's it, pretty much."

Klopp added: "With Diogo it will obviously rather take months [and not weeks]. And Curtis... with injuries you have important days, like day five or day ten, when you judge the situation again, because not everyone reacts in same way. It depends on pain level they still have and stuff like this. I couldn't give you a timeframe even if I wanted to. They all react differently. That is just how it is. When you don't have these players it makes no sense [to speculate].

"The longer-term, Trent and Dom are on their way back but not in team training yet, so that means they are not available as well. That is the situation. What I said after the Game directly is as long as we have 11 players we will go for it and that is exactly the idea. With the boys it's day by day and with the Games it's Game by Game."

There was no mention of Mohamed Salah during Klopp's press conference, leaving fans sweating after reports in Egypt suggested the forward had aggravated the hamstring injury he suffered at the World Cup.

"I learned that Salah suffered an injury at the end of the Brentford-Liverpool match, and the injury he suffered during the Egyptian national team camp was renewed," Ahmed Shobair told ONTime Sports.

Klopp also did not provide an update on Darwin Nunez, who was withdrawn during the victory over Brentford due to a minor complaint.
