The former England goalkeeper retired after securing a memorable double with Celtic, capping it with a Scottish Cup final victory — his last professional Game.

During his three-year stint with Celtic, Hart helped the club win three league titles, two League Cups, and two Scottish Cups, becoming a fan favourite.

His farewell was marked by an emotional tribute from the fans, including a special tifo displayed by the Green Brigade, and he received a standing ovation when he was substituted late in his final Game.

“This is a message for all of the Celtic Football club family.

“I look forward to seeing you all over the next couple of years, but for now this is going to have to do.

“Firstly, from the bottom of my heart and my family’s heart, I want to thank you for how you have treated us from when we’ve been up in Glasgow. I want to thank the playing staff, the players, everybody and Lennoxtown and of course, all you beautiful people at Celtic Park.

“The last three seasons have been full of ups and downs, but most importantly, full of trophies. You gave me a chance and a home, and that’s all I ever asked for. And for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

“But for the relationship to develop how it did, I literally don’t have the words to say how thankful I am for that.

“The send-off you gave me at Celtic Park a few weeks ago on trophy day was not only one of the greatest days of my sporting life, but of the greatest days of my life.

“You really truly have a special Football club and one that I’ll support forever and ever.

“Thank you, love and best wishes, your big Joe.”

As Celtic now look ahead, they are faced with the daunting task of finding a replacement who can fill the significant void left by Hart’s departure.

They are said to be in talks with Sparta Prague goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen, but he’s just one of the many names linked to the position.
