Bronny James was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 55th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft.

Expectations for the 19-year-old were pretty low given how poorly he played in college, but somehow, Bronny has found a way to underdeliver even relative to those.

There is a reason why a very long clip of Bronny’s lowlights during Summer League action went viral this week. Additionally, there is a reason why LeBron was forced to answer how he would discipline Bronny if he played poorly during the regular season.

In light of Bronny’s terrible Summer League showing, new Lakers coach J.J. Redick was asked how he felt about the rookie’s showing thus far.

“I think you just have to let go of outcomes, and you just have to enjoy the process of being in the NBA. … He’s obviously case study No. 1. He’s going to be a big part of what we do in our player development program,” Redick said.

“We’re going to invest heavily in him. He’s got to fall in love with that process and let go of outcomes.”

Redick also tried to maintain an overall positive tone.

“Overall, we’ve liked what we’ve seen in practice. We like what we’ve seen in the Summer League,” the Lakers head coach added.

What sort of player will Bronny ultimately turn into when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
