Jamie Foxx beams as he accepts award AAFCA Special Achievement nearly a year after mystery illness
Jamie Foxx was honored at the African American Film Critics Association Awards Sunday night — nearly one year after his Health scare.
The Oscar-winning actor, 56, beamed from ear to ear as he picked up the Producers Award at the star-studded ceremony.
The actor was also honored for his company Foxxhole Productions at a luncheon held at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Foxx looked dapper as ever in an all-black ensemble consisting of a Dolce & Gabbana sport coat atop a black turtleneck, and black slacks.
He teamed up his sleek look with a pair of shades and black leather shoes.
Prior to the ceremony, “The Burial” actor posed for pics with actress Jurnee Smollett, 37, actor Courtney B. Vance, 63, and actress Nia Long, 53.
He and Datari Turner were then handed the gong by the trio up onstage. The award acknowledged Foxx’s production company’s continued efforts to showcase inclusive narratives.
The award ceremony came nearly a year after Foxx was hospitalized following a Mysterious “medical complication.”
The actor was filming his action-comedy “Back in Action” alongside Cameron Diaz at the time of the health scare.
He was hospitalized on April 11, 2023, with his daughter Corinne revealing the news of his Health woes at the time.
After weeks of opposing reports regarding his health and hospitalization status, Foxx hopped on his Instagram page on May 3, 2023, to assure fans he was in the process of healing and thankful for their support.
Finally, on July 22, 2023, following several positive updates from people in his life, Foxx returned to Instagram to discuss his condition.
While he declined to share exactly what happened to him, he assured he was never blind or paralyzed, as some had theorized.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie or a television show.”
“I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through,” he went on.
