Indian Wells 2024 Semifinals: Who plays today March 15? Times, TV and streaming
Indian Wells has given us some entertaining tennis with a dollop of action outside of play as action was halted due to a bee invasion.
During the men’s quarter-final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, the German insisted that a woman behind him was making “bee noises” to put him off his serve and wanted her removed from the court. Minutes later, his Spanish opponent found himself at ground zero in a bee swarm, eventually sustaining a sting leading to both players rushing off the court.
When play resumed nearly two hours later, Alcaraz won in straight sets.
Play on Friday will see the Men’s Doubles and the Mixed Doubles have their Finals. The Mixed Doubles has been a hastily cobbled together competition and as such has not been broadcast or included in the public consumption of the tournament.
Additionally, both WTA semifinals will take place today, setting up the final on the women’s bracket.

Men’s Doubles Final
Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos will take on the Netherlands’ Wesley Koolhof and Croatia’s Nikola Mektic in the Men’s Doubles Final. To get here, Koolhof and Mektic got past Germany’s Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz, while Granollers and Zeballos had to stretch to beat Italy’s Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli in a tie break.
WTA Semi Final 1: Swiatek vs Kostyuk
In the first women’s semi final, number one ranked Iga Swiatek of Poland will take on world number 31 ranked Ukranian Marta Kostyuk. This should be a straightforward match for Swiatek, particularly with the way she has been playing lately, scoring easy victories over Danielle Collins, Linda Noskova, and Yulia Putintseva, before getting her first real fight from Caroline Wozniacki in the quarters.
Kostyuk has looked outstanding in California, beating Mai Hontama in straight sets before cruising past Marketa Vondrousova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Anastasia Potapova in the quarterfinals. Even so, Swiatek is a different level to any other opponent, and should cruise here, but if Indian Wells 2024 has taught us anything, it is to expect the unexpected.
WTA Semi Final 2: Gauff vs Sakkari
A far more evenly matched semi sees the USA’s Coco Gauff take on Greece’s Maria Sakkari. To get here, Gauff was good enough to overcome her own ghosts when she hit 17 double faults in the quarterfinal against Yue Yuan. Prior to that, she had to grind out a round one win against Clara Burel, before despatching Lucia Bronzetti and Elise Mertens in straight sets.
Sakkari on the other hand has shown glimpses of last year’s Guadalajara championship run as she beat Diana Shnaider, Caroline Garcia, Diane Parry, before coming from behind to beat favorite Emma Navarro in the quarterfinals. That composure is something that can be a game-changer today.
