B83.Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, is listing his Silicon Valley estate for $24.5 million, signaling a significant real estate move from one of the tech industry’s most prominent figures and offering a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of Silicon Valley elites.
For years, Eric Schmidt’s real estate empire has been the subject of fascination, as he amassed a collection of prime properties across various cities like Miami, Beverly Hills, New York City, and Washington, D.C. However, he’s now decided to part ways with at least one of his numerous residences. Schmidt has listed his long-held Northern California compound for sale, with an asking price of $24.5 million. This figure is approximately twelve times what Schmidt and his wife Wendy paid for the property over three decades ago in 1990. The listing is managed by Katharine Carroll of Compass.

The sprawling 3.3-acre estate, located in the affluent Silicon Valley enclave of Atherton, boasts a main European-inspired mansion and a newer guesthouse designed by Schwanke Architecture. These structures offer a total of five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, encompassing a little over 5,200 square feet. While the estate was originally completed in the late 1960s, extensive renovations were undertaken during Schmidt’s ownership.

Leading up to the residence are two gated driveways, each leading to three motorcourts. One of these motorcourts is situated next to a detached three-car garage, which features a recreation room on the lower level. Upon entering the residence, you’re greeted by an entry foyer adorned with herringbone-style hardwood floors and a gracefully curved iron-railed staircase. On one side, the foyer flows into a living room accented by a fireplace and doors opening onto a terrace, a formal dining room, and a kitchen equipped with custom marble countertops, Waterworks fixtures, dual sinks and dishwashers, and a Thermador range. Adjacent to the kitchen, a breakfast nook with a bay window provides access to a patio featuring a water feature.

Across from the foyer, a sky-lit hallway leads to a cozy fireside sitting room, an elegant wood-paneled office/study with a full bath, a family room complete with a wet bar and fireplace that connects to a sunroom. Upstairs, the primary bedroom offers a welcoming retreat with access to a spacious private terrace, a dressing room, and a luxurious bath featuring a soaking tub and marble shower.

Particularly notable are the scenic grounds, adorned with lush plants and unique trees, featuring a swimming pool, spa, and numerous inviting spaces perfect for outdoor relaxation and entertaining. Completing the estate are additional amenities, including a separate structure for the security team and a delightful Amdega Conservatory imported from the United Kingdom, repurposed as a greenhouse.

In addition to his Atherton estate, Eric Schmidt, whose current net worth is estimated at $24 billion, also owns a $65 million plot of undeveloped land in the hills above Beverly Hills, previously owned by the late tech billionaire Paul Allen. Furthermore, he possesses a historic $15 million mansion in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown area, once inhabited by Jackie Kennedy, as well as $114 million worth of island residences in Miami Beach.
