Rodgers urged Palma to intensify his off-ball efforts and pressing Game while acknowledging his creative contributions of ten goals and ten assists last season.
After Celtic’s 4-0 victory over DC United, Rodgers highlighted Palma’s successful adaptation to both the Scottish Premiership and life in Glasgow, praising his first campaign with the club. Despite these accolades, Rodgers emphasised that there is still room for Palma to raise his level of play.
Speaking to the Honduran newspaper La Prensa, Palma conveyed his appreciation for Rodgers, attributing his opportunity at Celtic to the manager’s faith in him.
He expressed a strong desire to contribute further to the team’s success and take on his manager’s advice, stating to Diario La Prensa, “Our relationship is very good, I thank Brendan. He was the one who gave me the opportunity to be at the club. If he said that, then I will keep improving to help the team, which is the most important thing.
“The adaptation [to Celtic] was very important for me. Since I arrived I have learned how to adapt to the climate, the city, the people and the team – which is a great one.
“My expectations are the same to keep growing as a person and a player, last season I scored 10 goals and 10 assists, now I hope to do more.”
There is obviously a lot of quality in Palma, but Brendan is right in that there are areas of his Game he needs to improve to become a quality Celtic player. Maybe a pre-season with the manager and a run of Games will help Luis reach the next level.
