Jake Paul prevailed in his highly-anticipated fight against the legendary Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Texas on Friday, earning a unanimous decision victory against “the Baddest Man on the Planet”.

Although 58-year-old Tyson showed glimpses of his former self in the early, landing a couple of trademark left, the YouTuber turned professional boxer came out strong in the third. By that point, “Iron Mike” wearing a knee brace, had already started to fade. Paul, 31 years Tyson’s junior, was on the front foot for much of the rest of the fight and landed a few heavy blows, without anything overly spectacular, much to the disappointment of those watching on Netflix (despite significant buffering, in many cases).

As is often the case in high-profile Boxing fights, the money made by Paul and Tyson wasn’t officially confirmed, although estimates have been widely reported. And the figures on offer aren’t thought to be dependent on the outcome, which is also fairly standard.

Why is Jake Paul making twice as much from the Mike Tyson fight?

According to DraftKings Network, Paul will make $40 million just for taking part in the fight, with Tyson expected to rake in around $20 million.

The most logical explanation for the difference in earnings is that Paul, one of the most followed social media influencers on the planet, is the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the company which promoted the fight along with Netflix.
