How Celtic and Brendan Rodgers Have Helped Scott Brown at Ayr
Celtic fans have held a keen interest in the fortunes of Ayr United of late because club legend Scott Brown is in charge of the Somerset Park side.
It is Brown’s second managerial stint after he took the helm at English third-tier team Fleetwood Town for a little over a year.
With the Cods, his spell wasn’t blessed with success but Brown did bring Fleetwood their deepest run in the FA Cup.
On the West coast of Scotland, the 38-year-old looks to have met the objective of guiding Ayr towards Championship survival. He has them sitting nine points clear of the relegation play-off spot with three Games to go.
During his early days with the Honest Men, Celtic and Brendan Rodgers came of assistance to Brown. On the recent BBC Scottish Football Podcast, he revealed the help he got from his old team and boss with the signing of B team goalkeeper Josh Clarke.
He said: “He helped us with Josh (Clarke) coming in. The goalie has come in for the last three or four Games there. He has been exceptional.
“We got an injury and we got an emergency loan in. Celtic helped us out. For that, I am lucky enough to pick up the phone to Celtic and to ask for help now and again.”
