Celtic ensured they got over the line against Dundee earlier today to restore their three-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Following Rangers’ victory away to St Mirren this afternoon to move level, Brendan Rodgers made one change to his starting line-up from last weekend’s triumph against Aberdeen, slotting James Forrest in for Hyunjun Yang on the left flank.

As we now know, the Scotland international made all the difference at Dens Park, firing home a stunning volley on the half-hour mark to grant the visitors the lead on Tayside.

In a match where quality was few and far between, Forrest doubled Celtic’s advantage in the 67th minute, latching on to a break of the ball to slam low past Jon McCracken on his weaker foot.

Antonio Portales’s strike was diverted past Joe Hart by Adam Idah seven minutes later to half the deficit; regardless, the Bhoys survived a nervy ending to pick up a monumental three points against Tony Docherty’s outfit.

Post-match, Rodgers acknowledged his side can comPete to a higher standard, though he couldn’t hide his delight at the end result.

He stated: “We’ve played better than we did today but it was all-important to get the three points and the players did that really well by the end.”

Greg Taylor’s Instagram post as Celtic prevail against Dundee

On a day when Celtic just about held their nerve, Greg Taylor has since taken to Instagram, saying what every fan will think internally following a match-winning display from teaMMAte Forrest.

Sharing pictures from the victory over Dundee, the Scotland international accompanied his post with a simple tagline that reads ‘FORREST’ (followed by a kiss-blowing emoji), which won’t come to anyone’s surprise amid his starring role in today’s proceedings.

Rodgers is also in the same boat and shared his appreciation for the 32-year-old’s brace in the City of Discovery by labelling him ‘one of the fathers of the great success this club has had over the last decade’ after the match ended.

As we all breathe in a collective sigh of relief, Forrest deserves every bit of adulation he gets over the coming days, and hopefully, there is more to come from him across the remainder of this campaign.
