The son of Tonalist has won four of his five starts at this venue and while he has been racing away from here in recent years he has delivered some solid efforts in stronger looking contests. Those efforts including a one-and-a-quarter-length second in a starter optional claiming event over a mile on a wet-fast track at Thistledown in September. The six-year-old failed to shine when outclassed in an allowance there subsequently and is taken to score switched to claiming company.

3:50 pm Mahoning Valley Race Course (Race 9) – Jersey Pearl 3/1 (2-star play)

The three-year-old impressed when making all to complete an allowance optional claiming race double by nine-and-a-half-lengths at Ellis Park in July. The daughter of Bee Jersey acquitted herself well despite fading when fifth in the seven furlong Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga subsequently. The three-year-old drops in grade here following a second in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at the same venue at the start of September and she looks capable of taking this contest following a break.

4:20 pm Mahoning Valley Race Course (Race 10) – Damon’s Mound 5/2 (2-star play)

Trained by Michelle Lovell the colt has shown good form in his recent starts including when scoring by one-and-a-quarter-lengths in the Grade 2 Galant Bob Stakes over six furlongs at Parx in September. That success came on a sloppy track having taken out a valuable ungraded stakes contest over the same trip at Charles Town Races the previous month. Junior Alvarado retains the ride and with a good gate here looks up to steering the son of Girvin to victory.
