Here’s which luxury BMW each Real Madrid player got for free

It’s that time of year where the nights are drawing in, the temperatures are dropping and someone, somewhere, is playing ‘Last Christmas’ by WHAM! way too early. It’s also the time of year in which the Real Madrid squad get given a free BMW as part of the club’s partnership with the German car brand, presumably as a way to keep warm during the cold trips to and from the 5-star training centre in case the heating in their V12 Lamborghini Aventador 700-4 roadster isn’t quite working.

As is usual, a few snaps are taken of the players putting Petrol into the tank, closing the doors and gripping the steering wheel like they’re holding a newborn baby. What’s even funnier is when the players are too young to have driving licenses and their mum still has to drop them off, a bit like the kid who recently won DAZN’s ‘Guess the Score’ betting Game and was invited onto TV to tell everyone how he picked 6 correct scores... before of course telling his mother what to type into the app on his, sorry, her phone.

Anyway, let’s get to it. Who got what? Is Mbappé's BMW more powerful than Vini’s? Will that create a problem in the dressing room?

Vinicius Jr’s BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the most expensive car that was chosen from the catalogue of flash cars on offer to the players. The 659 horsepower electric motor is the fastest one the company make, and has a top speed of 250 km/h. The cost? €186,650 ($208,21). Coming up right behind Vinicius, in typical BMW fashion, is Jude Bellingham, whose €179,900 ($200,000) BMW XM has a 0-60mph time of just 3.7 seconds.

Kylian Mbappé chose the same car as Jude, just in white instead of black. However, with just 60 days of rainfall projected in Madrid per year, he won’t have to avoid those muddy puddles very often. Courtois, Rodrygo, Carvajal and Luka Modric all chose the same luxury XM and its 4.4-litre twin-turbo V-8 engine.

Little Arda Güler took a BMW i7 xDrive 60 and a free car seat, while Carletto nabbed the i5 version. Endrick’s BMW iX xDrive50, the one with the gawping radiator grill on the front that looks like the fangs of a chubby tarantula, has over 500 horsepower and a 0-60 time of just under 4 and a half seconds.

To finish, Toni Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni’s BMW iX2 xDrive30 costs around €60,000 ($70,000), making it a bargain for anyone who actually has to pay. The Footballers play their next Football match against Atlético Madrid on Sunday, with Kylian Mbappé set to miss out due to injury.
