Henrik Larsson’s Classy Message to Celtic Women After Historic Achievement
Hoops legend Henrik Larsson sent a classy message to Celtic Women following their historic UEFA Champions League qualification at the end of last month.
The Ghirls became the first Scottish side to reach the comPetition’s initial group stage, where they will face FC Twente, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.
Elena Sadiku’s side defeated Ukrainian outfit FC Vorskla Poltava 3-0 on aggregate to reach the Champions League proper and, after doing so, received a special message from Larsson.
Celtic Women captain Kelly Clark lifted the lid on the well-wish from the king of kings.
“We got a congrats from Henrik,” she said (Celtic FC on YouTube).
“That’s a really important one.
“There you go, we did get a message of congrats from Henrik, which was pretty cool.”
Larsson’s classy gesture once more makes clear his inherent love for Celtic. He will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on proceedings tonight as his fellow Swede Sadiku leads the Ghirls out against Twente.
Last season’s SWPL champions will kick off their group B campaign against the Dutch outfit at 8pm at New Douglas Park.
After salvaging a hard-fought comeback draw away from home in the Glasgow Derby last week, Sadiku’s side head into this one high on confidence.
2-0 down with just over 20 minutes left, the Celts rose from the ashes and secured a point courtesy of goals from Saoirse Noonan and Celya Barclais.
A few days on, backed by raucous home support in Hamilton, the Hoops will aim to make their Women’s Champions League debut one to remember.
