Gabriel Jesus prepared for new role in Arsenal squad
Gabriel Jesus is willing to adapt to a new wide role at Arsenal in order to support the team's Premier League title dreams.
Brazilian forward Jesus has most often been used as a 'number nine' since joining the Gunners in 2022, but is ready to move out wide if it will benefit the team - of couse, he often played on the flanks for former club Manchester City too.
He was deployed on the left wing during Sunday's goalless draw at the Etihad against City, a position that saw Arsenal return with a strong point as well as damaging their opponents' own title challenge.
Jesus has been open on his desires to develop into a penalty-box striker, despite admitting he is not natural goalscorer, but is happy to play where Mikel Arteta believes is best.
Speaking on his place on the pitch afterwards, Jesus said: "The way I am, I try everything I can to help my team. It doesn't matter where I play, I always try to do my best. I did it [against Manchester City]. I was very deep, normally I am not that deep, but I had to play as the winger.
"I think I help my team playing like this. And then also, when we there [in attack], I created some chances. I could do a little bit better, but football is like this sometimes. This is the most beautiful part of the season, you try everything to win titles.
"It's the Premier League, it's a tough league and anything can happen. It is only two points the difference [with Liverpool] and then we have a very good goal difference. Everything counts at the end, but there are still a lot of Games."
Gabriel was shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away against City, but played 72 minutes of the fixture and attempted three shots.
The draw see Arsenal in second place on the Premier League table, whereas reigning champions City sit third. The Gunners return to action on Wednesday when they host Luton Town.
