Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners
August 3, 2024 9:40 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Seattle Mariners. Let’s take a look at this MLB Game from a FanDuel perspective.

Before we dive into the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners matchup.

MVP-Justin Turner, First Baseman, Seattle Mariners $5,500

On Saturday evening, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three game interleague series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Seattle Mariners.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s Major League Baseball game? The Philadelphia Phillies arrive at this evening’s second game of this three game interleague series with the Seattle Mariners playing rather below average baseball. The Phillies have lost six of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a including an embarrassing 14-4 loss to the New York Yankees five days ago.

In direct contrast to the Phillies, the Seattle Mariners have been playing good baseball recently. Let me be more specific. The Mariners have won five of the team’s last seven games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including an impressive 10-0 shutout victory over the Chicago White Sox four days ago.

It should also be noted that the Seattle Mariners defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 10-4 in last night’s first Game of this three Game interleague series.

Now that we have determined how both of these MLB teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this evening’s contest in Seattle. Talented Seattle Mariners first baseman Justin Turner has certainly established himself as one of the best hitters in the Mariners lineup in 2024. Let’s review Turner’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In his last seven Games played for the Seattle Mariners in the 2024 MLB regular season, Seattle first baseman Justin Turner accumulated a whopping 13 hits, three runs scored, and two walks in 22 plate appearances. Clearly, Turner is swinging the bat well for the Seattle Mariners entering tonight’s Game with the Philadelphia Phillies.

In my opinion, Seattle first baseman Justin Turner’s low FanDuel price of only $5,500 presents the best fantasy value of any player on this one game MLB DFS slate.

Star-Cal Raleigh, Catcher, Seattle Mariners $7,500

Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh continues to be an important part of the Seattle Mariners lineup this season. In his last five Games played for the Mariners, Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh accumulated five hits, six runs scored, and two walks in 25 plate appearances. I think Raleigh is a nice pivot from other players at his FanDuel price point on this DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well this evening (FanDuel price noted): Bryce Harper, First Baseman (Philadelphia Phillies) $9,000: Trea Turner, Shortstop (Philadelphia Phillies) $9,500.
