Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves
September 5, 2024 7:20 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the Colorado Rockies and the Atlanta Braves. Let’s take a look at this MLB Game from a FanDuel perspective.

Before we dive into the Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single Game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves matchup

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Ryan McMahon, Third Baseman, Colorado Rockies $7,000

On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three game National League series between the Colorado Rockies and the Atlanta Braves.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB Game? The Colorado Rockies arrive at tonight’s Game with the Atlanta Braves playing below average baseball. More specifically, the Rockies have lost five of the team’s last six Games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including a 12-8 shutout loss to the Miami Marlins last week.

Similar to the Colorado Rockies, the Atlanta Braves have not been playing quality baseball recently. The Braves have lost nine of the team’s last 14 games played this season, including a 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies four days ago.

It should be noted that the Atlanta Braves defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in last night’s second game of this three game National League series.

Now that we have determined how both of these National League teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s contest. Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon has certainly been a key contributor to the Colorado Rockies offense this season. Let’s review McMahon’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon arrives at tonight’s National League game on the heels of a five-game hitting streak. In that five-game span just mentioned, McMahon accumulated six hits and two walks.

In summary, I like Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon’s chances of continuing to play quality baseball versus the Atlanta Braves later today.

Star-Marcel Ozuna, Outfielder, Atlanta Braves $9,500

Atlanta outfielder Marcel Ozuna brings a quality bat to this Atlanta Braves lineup. In his last nine games played for the Atlanta Braves in the 2024 MLB regular season, Braves outfielder Marcel Ozuna has tallied an impressive 11 hits, five runs scored, four RBIs (runs batted in), and two walks in 29 plate appearances.

Flex plays I like to play well this evening (FanDuel price noted): Charlie Blackmon, Outfielder (Colorado Rockies) $6,000: Matt Olsen, First Baseman (Atlanta Braves) $8,500: Brendan Rodgers, Second Baseman (Colorado Rockies) $5,500.
