Dropbox has revealed that it will no longer integrate Google Docs, sheets or slides, which will be replaced with shortcuts instead. According to the company users will have to migrate their Google Workspace files to Google Drive within 30 days or their files will be converted to Microsoft Office files.

Dropbox has, since 2018, allowed Google Docs, Slides and Sheets integration, enabling users to create, edit and share files without leaving the platform.

A partnership with Google Cloud enabled such useful integration possible for users.

“Google files in Dropbox will be replaced with shortcuts to documents in Google Drive,” the email said. “This change will ensure you maintain access to your Google files, they remain organized with the rest of your Dropbox content, and you can use the most up-to-date Google features."

After 30 days have passed, all Google files will be converted into their Microsoft counterparts, preserving certain advanced sharing settings, such as password protection.
