Draftkings Best Portland Classic DFS Picks 8/1/24

This week, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the 2024 Portland Classic. Let’s take a look at this week’s LPGA event from a DFS perspective.

Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections for this tournament let’s review the Golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a Golfer’s success at this week’s 2024 Portland Classic.

Where will the 2024 Portland Classic be played?

The 2024 Portland Classic will be at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon. The Golf course is par 72 that measures approximately 6,478 yards.

Chanettee Wannasaen won the 2023 Portland Classic with a cumulative four round score of 26 under par.

How will the Portland Classic’s cut be determined?

The 2024 Portland Classic will have a field of 144 players to start the tournament on Thursday. Upon the completion of two rounds, a cut will occur. The top 65 golfers (including ties) will make the cut and move on to play the third round. The remaining golfers will miss the cut.

2024 Portland Classic Draftkings Player Selections

Mao Saigo $10,300

Since the beginning of June, Mao Saigo has competed in eight tournaments on the LPGA Tour. In those eight events just mentioned, Saigo accumulated an impressive five top 21 finishes, including a second-place result at last week’s 2024 CPKC Women’s Open.

Mao Saigo also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Saigo is currently ranked third in GIR (greens in regulation-73.27%), 15th in total birdies made (185), second in total rounds under par (34), and fifth in overall scoring average (70.51) on the LPGA Tour.

I fully expect Mao Saigo to continue her outstanding play in Portland this week.

Jenny Shin $9,800

Jenny Shin has accumulated four top 19 finishes in her last five events played on the LPGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic last month.

Due to Jenny Shin’s impressive ninth-place finish at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Shin fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic, in relation to the field, Jenny Shin ranked eighth in driving distance (272.1 yards), third in strokes gained approach (2.060), and 14th in strokes gained tee to green (1.863).

Yuri Yoshida $7,900

Yuri Yoshida arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 25 finishes on the LPGA Tour, including a 16th place result at the 2024 Dana Open two weeks ago.

Ryann O’Toole $7,500

The talented American fired a second round 68 at last week’s 2024 CPKC Women’s Open en route to an eventual 19th place finish.

Ryann O’Toole has posted a quality result at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in the past. More specifically, O’Toole finished ninth at the 2022 Portland Classic.
