This week, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the final major championship of the year, the Open Championship. Let’s take a look at this week’s event from a DFS perspective.

Before I dive into my DFS player selections for this tournament let’s review the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a golfer’s success at this week’s 2024 Open Championship.

Where will the 2024 Open Championship be played?

The 2024 Open Championship will be played at Royal Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland. The Golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,058 yards.

Royal Troon last hosted the Open Championship in 2016.

Henrik Stenson won the 2016 Open Championship with a cumulative four round score of 20 under par.

Will the Open Championship have a traditional cut after two rounds?

The 2024 Open Championship will have a field of 156 players to start the tournament on Thursday. Upon the completion of two rounds, a cut will occur. The top 70 Golfers (including ties) will make the cut.

2024 Open Championship Draftkings DFS Picks

Collin Morikawa $9,900

Collin Morikawa arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of nine consecutive top 16 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an impressive fourth place result at last week’s 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Open Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Collin Morikawa ranks second in strokes gained tee to green, 12th in strokes gained approach, fourth in bogey avoidance, second in birdie or better percentage, ninth in GIR (greens in regulation), and fourth in total Draftkings points scored.

Additionally, Collin Morikawa won the 2021 Open Championship.

Tommy Fleetwood $9,300

Tommy Fleetwood arrives at this week’s tournament in rather good form. More specifically, Fleetwood has accumulated three top 20 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the 2024 Travelers Championship four weeks ago.

Tommy Fleetwood certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Since 2017, Fleetwood has played the Open Championship a total of six times. In those six tournaments just mentioned, Tommy Fleetwood accumulated four top 12 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2022 Open Championship.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Open Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tommy Fleetwood ranks 11th in strokes gained tee to green, 11th in strokes gained approach, sixth in bogey avoidance, ninth in strokes gained on par fives, 12th in GIR (greens in regulation), and 17th in total Draftkings points scored.

In suMMAry, for the reasons just noted, I fully expect Tommy Fleetwood to be near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.

Sungjae Im $6,900

The talented South Korean has accumulated three consecutive top 12 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third-place finish at the 2024 Travelers Championship.

In my opinion, Sungjae Im presents the best fantasy value of any Golfer on this week’s slate at the low Draftkings price of only $6,900.
