Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders
June 23, 2024 7:00 pm EDT

The CFL presents a matchup between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Let’s take a look at this CFL game from a Draftkings perspective.

Prior to discussing my Draftkings picks for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Game, let’s review an important note regarding the rules and scoring for the single Game showdown contests.

For those readers who are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single Game showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single Game showdown contests feel free to check out the Draftkings website.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game CFL slate. Remember, once lineups lock on the Draftkings platform you cannot swap players.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this week’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup.

Draftkings CFL Player Selections

Trevor Harris, QB $11,000

How important has Roughriders starting quarterback Trevor Harris been to this Saskatchewan Roughriders offense this CFL regular season? Let’s review Trevor Harris’s recent Game data to answer that question.

In last week’s Saskatchewan Roughriders 33-30 comeback win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Saskatchewan quarterback Trevor Harris accumulated an impressive 390 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. I see no reason why talented Saskatchewan Roughriders signal caller Trevor Harris can’t repeat his outstanding performance from last week again in week 3.

In summary, I fully expect Trevor Harris to continue his outstanding play on the football field in this week’s matchup versus a rather vulnerable Hamilton Tiger-Cats defense.

Shemar Bridges, WR $4,700

One of the great things about the CFL is that the league provides a platform for young football players to play on a professional level that are not quite talented enough to make an NFL roster yet. An example of a young player that seized the opportunity that the CFL provided him is Hamilton rookie wide receiver Shemar Bridges. Let’s take a look at Bridges’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

Through two games played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2024 CFL regular season, Shemar Bridges has accumulated 13 receptions, 157 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown.

In my opinion, Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Shemar Bridges presents the best value of any player on this slate at the low Draftkings price of only $4,700.

James Butler, RB $12,100

Talented Hamilton running back James Butler was certainly a key contributor to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offense in 2023. Having stated that, how did Butler perform from a statistical perspective last season? Let’s review James Butler’s relevant key player Game data from the 2023 CFL regular season to answer that question.

In the 13 games that running back James Butler played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2023 CFL regular season, Butler accumulated a robust 1,182 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 57 receptions, and 477 receiving yards.

Two weeks ago, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats suffered a 27-12 loss to Montreal Alouettes. In that contest, Butler played rather well. More specifically, Butler accumulated a whopping 119 rushing yards in the Tiger-Cats loss to the defending champion Montreal Alouettes in week 1 of the CFL regular season.

For the reasons just mentioned, I am backing Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back James Butler as a flex play for this Draftkings CFL DFS contest.

Additional flex plays I like to perform well this week (Draftkings price noted): Bo Levi Mitchell, QB, (Hamilton) $12,500: Tim White, WR (Hamilton) $13,700: A.J. Ouellette, RB (Roughriders) $11,700.
