Draftkings Best 3M Open First Round Showdown Picks 7/25/24

This Thursday, Draftkings Golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2024 3M Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the 2024 3M Open will be played.

The first round of the 2024 3M Open will be played at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. TPC Twin Cities is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,431 yards.

*TPC Twin Cities has hosted the 3M Open since 2019.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2024 3M Open.

2024 3M Open Draftkings First Round Picks

J.T. Poston $9,200

J.T. has accumulated four top 32 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge in May.

Additionally, J.T. Poston has played well at the 3M Open previously. Poston finished second at the 2023 3M Open.

J.J. Spaun $7,100

The talented American has accumulated three top 29 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a tenth-place result at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic four weeks ago.

J.J. Spaun certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. In relation to this week’s 2024 3M Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, J.J. Spaun ranks second in birdie or better percentage, ninth in strokes gained approach, second in strokes gained on par fives, 18th in proximity to the hole, and fourth in total Draftkings points scored.

Patton Kizzire $7,200

Last week, Patton Kizzire fired a third round 65 at the 2024 Barracuda Championship en route to an eventual eighth place finish.

Patton Kizzire also finished 34th at the 2019 3M Open.

Henrik Norlander $6,600

Henrik Norlander arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of two consecutive top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place result at last week’s 2024 Barracuda Championship.

Due to Henrik Norlander’s quality finish at the 2024 Barracuda Championship I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to see how Norlander fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 3M Open, in relation to the field, Henrik Norlander ranked second in driving accuracy (80.4%), fifth in strokes gained tee to green (2.262), fifth in strokes gained around the green (1.186), second in scrambling (81%), and 20th in driving distance (335.8 yards).

In my opinion, Henrik Norlander presents the best fantasy value of any player in this week’s field. Norlander arrives on this Draftkings first round showdown slate at only $6,600.
