The St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers meet Tuesday in MLB doubleheader action from Comerica Park. Here’s a Detroit Tigers vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. These will be the first and second installments in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

St. Louis played the New York Mets in their weekend series. The Cardinals managed wins in the first pair before a 4-2 loss on Sunday. Starter Lance Lynn went 5.0 innings in that one with one earned on five hits and three walks. The Monday Game versus the Tigers was postponed due to weather.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game one matchup the Cardinals will send out Kyle Gibson. Across five starts this year Gibson is 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 31.0 innings. As for game two it’ll be Steven Matz. So far Matz is 1-2 with a 5.55 ERA and 16 strikeouts.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they took on the Kansas City Royals in their weekend set. Detroit lost the first Game of that series but came back to win the weekend outings. In the Sunday victory 4-1, the Tigers got two hits, two RBI and a homer from Wenceel Perez. Jake Rogers added a solo homer with two hits and two runs.

It’ll be Jack Flaherty in the starting pitcher role for the Tigers on Tuesday in Game one. This year over his five starts Flaherty is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 36 Ks in 29.1 innings. In Game two the Tigers didn’t immediately announce a name.

Cardinals vs Tigers Injury Notes

Cardinals CF Dylan Carlson is set to report to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday or Wednesday to begin his rehab assignment. Carlson is on the 10-day Injured List with a shoulder issue.

Detroit Tigers vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll try St. Louis in game one. The Cardinals should get a solid outing from Gibson if he keeps it going. Over his last pair of starts Gibson is 1-0 with just two earned runs on eight hits and six walks over 12.0 innings. As for Flaherty, he’s given up nine earned runs over his last 17.1 innings of work in three starts.

As for game two, I’ll probably lean toward the Tigers. Matz has struggled over his last two games, giving up 12 earned runs on 13 combined hits and six walks in 9.1 frames. He’s 0-2 in that pair. Detroit should have some opportunities to plate a few runs early if Matz can’t get it together.
