Denver Broncos player Josh Reynolds was among three men injured during a shooting in Denver last weekend, according to authorities, sustaining two gunshot wounds.

Reynolds, 29, was reportedly “shot twice, once in his left arm and once in the back of his head” while leaving a local strip club in the early hours of Friday, October 18, according to court documents obtained by Denver’s 9News.

“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the Denver Broncos told Us Weekly in a statement on Thursday, October 24. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

According to a 911 call that came in shortly after 3 a.m. local time, there was a shooting near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street. The caller said he’d been shot while driving a blue Ford Bronco, according to 9News. (The victims reported they were at a strip club called Shotgun Willies prior to the incident, leaving around 2:45 a.m.)

When police found the victims’ car it was on Interstate 25 near Belleview Avenue with “numerous bullet defects in the back driver-side and front windshield,” per the report.

According to court docs, Mendoza was reportedly seen watching the victims at the club before following them out of the parking lot. Three cars were reportedly following the victims at the time of the shooting.

Following his arrest, Charlesworth told investigators he was “helping” a friend follow the victims, claiming his friend had a prior coNFLict with them. Charlesworth denied shooting at the three men, alleging that the gunfire came from the other vehicles, per the police report.

Reynolds, who is a wide receiver, was on injured reserve for the Broncos prior to the incident after breaking his finger. He has yet to speak out about the shooting.
