Dak Prescott has no interceptions in training camp

The Dallas Cowboys have completed nearly two weeks of training camp in Oxnard, California with the first preseason Game coming up this Sunday. The Cowboys’ offseason has led to concern amongst fans and part of those concerns is the lack of a contract extension for either quarterback Dak Prescott or wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who are both in the last year of their current deals.

Prescott, for his part, is still participating in practices while Lamb has staged a complete offseason holdout until a deal arrives. Although Prescott is not holding out, he does expect to get that raise and isn’t planning to settle for less than the current market - a market that could make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. This is a controversial topic, as many don’t believe that kind of pay is deserved. Those same people would probably also admit they’d prefer it to having no Dak at all on the roster.

Prescott in training camp so far

Say what you will about Prescott, but his stats speak for themselves. Last season, Prescott was the runner-up in MVP voting behind Lamar Jackson. He threw for 4,516 yards and led the NFL in touchdowns with 36. He threw just nine interceptions. Speaking of interceptions, Prescott hasn’t thrown one in training camp yet.

Without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on the field, Prescott has been finding his younger receivers like Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, KaVontae Turpin, and Tyron Billy-Johnson. It gives hope to see there is some depth at the receiver position even with Lamb gone, but it also speaks to Prescott’s talent as a quarterback to make connections without throwing a pick, despite new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer’s “disguise” shcemes, which WR Brooks called “insane”.
