Daegu, South Korea: Best Things to Do in the Hometown of BTS’ Suga and V
Even though 5 out of 7 BTS members are currently completing their mandatory military service, the love and admiration for the K-pop group continues to grow. For fans who want to connect with their favourite members, visiting their hometowns is a must-do experience. Suga and V, two beloved members of BTS, were born and raised in the vibrant South Korean city of Daegu. Who are BTS’ Suga and V?
Min Yoon-gi, better known by his stage name Suga, is the second eldest member of the iconic K-pop group BTS. Born in Buk-gu, Daegu, Suga is a talented rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Before his rise to fame with BTS, he gained recognition as the underground rapper Gloss and was a member of the musical group D-Town. He has his solo musical career under the guise of Agust D, a celebrated record producer and songwriter.
Kim Tae-hyung, also known as V, is another beloved member of BTS. Born in Seo, Daegu, and raised in Geochang County, V is a talented singer, songwriter, and actor who got his break in acting in the K-drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. V made his debut with BTS in 2013 and has since captivated fans with his unique vocals and charismatic personality.
Both Suga and V are expected to return from their Military service in 2025, much to the delight of their dedicated faNBAse.
Things to do in Daegu, the hometown of BTS’s Suga and V
Just like Seoul, Busan and Incheon, Daegu is an important urban centre in South Korea. Located in North Gyeongsang Province, the bustling metropolis is a coNFLuence of culture, History and traditions. The gateway to the city is the Daegu International Airport.
Explore the heritage of Donghwasa Temple
Donghwasa is a Buddhist temple of the Jogye Order, located in the south of the Palgongsan Mountain. Donghwasa Temple means the “Temple of Paulownia Blossoms”, named after the Paulownia Tree that continues to blossom in the temple’s complex in winter. The key feature of the temple is the Tongil-yaksa-yeorae-daebul Buddha, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world.
How to reach: The Ayanggyo Station on Daegu’s metro Line 1 is the closest to Donghwasa Temple.

Hike around the Apsan Park
One of the largest parks in Daegu, this mountain park is tucked away at the foot of Apsan Mountain. This natural heaven is known for its scenic hiking trails, the Apsan Cable Car, the Apsan Observatory, several temples and the Nakdong River Battle Memorial Hall. The park offers panoramic views of the city, best enjoyed during sunrise and sunset.
How to reach: The Hyeongchungno Station on metro Line 1 is the closest to the park.
Shop your heart out at the Seomun market
Head to the biggest market in Gyeongsang Province for an endless shopping spree. The Seomun Market is divided into sections, with a host of shops dedicated to different types of items and products like jewellery, clothes and traditional crafts. The night market is booming with the best of local food and street stalls selling the freshest of yukjeon (pan-fried battered beef), bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes) and dakgangjeong (crispy chicken). You can even find open stages where local talents showcase their creativity through singing and dancing.
Timings: Seomun Market is open from 9 am to 6 pm all week; Seomun Night Market is open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7 pm to 10:30/11:30 pm.
How to reach: Seomun Market Station on the metro’s line 3 is the way to the market.
Spend a fun day at the E-World

One of the most famous theme parks in Daegu is E-World, which offers fun and adventure for people of all ages. E-World is a massive space divided into four outdoor amusement parks: Fantasy World, Magic World, Adventure World, and Dynamic World. There are rollercoasters, waterslides, fountains, exhibitions and more. A highly popular attraction of the E-World is the Daegu 83 Tower, offering 360-degree views of the cityscape.
Timings: E-World is open from 10 am to 9 pm; timings may vary according to seasons and events.
Tickets: Starting from KRW 49,000 for adults.
How to reach: Duryu Station on the metro Line 2 is the closest to the park.

Ride the cable car to Palgongsan mountain top
The Palgongsan Nature Park is blessed with stunning rock formations and valleys. It is also considered a sacred site as the mountain has several Buddhist temples and other religious sites. Visit the mountain via the Palgongsan Cable Car, one of the top things to do in Daegu. The cable car starts from Donghwa Facility and takes you to the top of the mountain’s Sinnimbong Peak.
Timings: The cable car operates from 9:30 am to 6 pm.
Tickets: The one-way ticket costs KRW 7,500 and a round-trip costs KRW 11,000.
How to reach: The Ayanggyo Station on Daegu’s metro Line 1 is the closest to the cable car.

The arts and sculptures showcased at the ARC often deal with the theme of the river and the different relationships it has with people, music, literature, the rise of civilisation and the birth of life.
Timings: The ARC is open from 10 am to 6 pm.
