The Dallas Cowboys were dealt two huge blows on Thursday night when star defenders Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence left late in the Game against the New York Giants with injuries. The Cowboys ended up winning the Game but will have to win their next few without Parsons and Lawrence.

While Parsons’ injury (a high-ankle sprain) may keep him out a few weeks, Lawrence, who has a Lisfranc injury in his right foot, is just about to be put on Injured Reserve, keeping him out for at least four weeks and potentially up to eight weeks. Dallas is now scrambling to find a solution to bolster the pass rush.

Cowboys’ solution to replace DeMarcus Lawrence

The Cowboys play the Steelers this Sunday in prime time and need to make a decision on how to replace Lawrence before that. On Monday, they revealed their plan to elevate defensive end Carl Lawson from the practice squad.

This will be the third time the Cowboys have elevated Lawson, meaning he will have to be added to the 53-man roster after this. He and second-round pick Marshawn Kneeland will receive the majority of the work in the meantime while Parsons and Lawrence recover.

According to Dallas Morning News’ David Moore, the Cowboys will also bring in several other players to work out. Who those players will be though is not yet clear. For now, they’ll stick with taking players like Lawson off the practice squad.
