The St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs meet Saturday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. Here’s a Chicago Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction. This will be the third installment in a four-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

This week the Cardinals took on the Texas Rangers. St. Louis lost the Monday Game but came back for wins in the next pair to take the series. Following a tough 5-4 loss to the Cubs on Thursday, in Game two the Cardinals took a 6-3 loss. Starter Erick Fedde gave up five earned in 5.0 innings.

In the starter slot for St. Louis on Saturday it’ll be Kyle Gibson. This year Gibson is 7-4 with a 3.97 ERA in 20 starts. Gibson is 111-104 with a 4.51 ERA in 320 career Games (314 starts).

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Over on the Cubs’ side, they played the Cincinnati Reds in their last series. Chicago lost the first two Games before a 13-4 win Wednesday halted the sweep. In Game two versus the Cards, the Cubs scored five runs in the second and held on from there. Javier Assad managed 4.0 innings with one earned in the start.

It’ll be Jameson Taillon as starter for Chicago on Saturday. So far Taillon is 7-6 with a 3.35 ERA in 18 starts. Taillon is 66-51 in his career with a 3.94 ERA in 191 games (190 starts).

Chicago Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll lean toward trying the Cardinals here. Gibson has a couple of good starts in his last pair, but he’s just 0-1 in that time. Over those two Gibson has 11.2 innings with three earned runs. As for Taillon, he’ll need to bounce back after giving up six earned in 4.1 innings in his last start.

On Friday the Cardinals had one very bad inning on the mound but otherwise didn’t pitch too badly. The offense was an issue, though; St. Louis managed just four team hits. The Cardinals have to get the bats going Saturday or they’ll be on the verge of getting swept.
