The Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago Cubs meet Saturday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Chicago Cubs vs LA Angels Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Los Angeles Angels will send out Tyler Anderson for the start here and Anderson is 7-8 with a 3.03 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Cubs, Anderson is 3-1 with a 3.90 ERA and 26 strikeouts. Kyle Hendricks will get the start for the Cubs here and Hendricks is 1-6 with a 7.48 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season. This will be Hendricks’ second career start against the Angels.

Los Angeles Angels Recap

The Los Angeles Angels will try to bounce back after starting the series with a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Cubs in Friday’s series opener. The loss for the Angels put the Halos at risk of back-to-back series losses after getting swept by the Oakland A’s earlier this week.

Angels Trying To Get Back On Track

Taylor Ward has 74 hits along with 16 doubles, 14 home runs and a team-high 44 RBIs. Mike Trout also has 10 home runs along with a pair of triples and 6 stolen bases, but remains out indefinitely with injury while Zach Neto has 19 doubles, 74 strikeouts and 12 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has a team-high 79 hits and 22 stolen bases while Jo Adell has 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as well.

Why the Los Angeles Angels will win

  • The Angels have won five of their last six games as underdogs against National League opponents following a road loss.
  • The Cubs have lost 11 of their last 14 games as favorites following a win.
  • The Cubs have failed to cover the run line in 19 of their last 20 games following a win.
  • The Angels have covered the run line in five of their last six games against National League opponents following a road loss.

Chicago Cubs Recap

The Chicago Cubs come into this one looking to keep the ball rolling after starting their series with a solid showing thanks to a complete Game from Justin Steele in Friday’s win. The win got the Cubs on track for their first series win in some time after series losses to the Phillies, Brewers and Giants over the last two weeks.

Cubs Looking To Claw Back In NL Central

Cody Bellinger leads the Cubs with 81 hits including 15 doubles, 9 home runs and 37 RBIs. Nico Hoerner has 72 hits, 14 doubles and a .241 batting average while Christopher Morel has a team-high 15 home runs and 46 RBIs. Michael Busch has 10 homers with 30 RBIs but has 94 strikeouts as well this season. Ian Happ also has a team-high 20 doubles with 13 home runs and 52 RBIs but also has 93 strikeouts this season. Seiya Suzuki’s also chipped in 12 homers and 36 RBIs this season.

Why the Chicago Cubs will win

  • The Cubs have won each of their last eight home games against American League opponents.
  • The Angels have lost each of their last five games.
  • The Cubs have covered the run line in each of their last 11 games as favorites against AL West opponents.
  • The Angels have failed to cover the run line each of their last five games against teams that held a losing record.

Chicago Cubs vs LA Angels Prediction

I’m on the Cubs here. I just don’t love the form that the Angels are in offensively right now and I think we’re starting to really see the regression monster come sneaking up on Tyler Anderson. Kyle Hendricks has always been known as a pitcher that pitches well at Wrigley and I’m liking what I’ve seen from the Cubs in the last few Games, at least more than what I’ve seen from the Angels which isn’t saying a whole lot. Give me the Cubs.
